ETP Organizační struktůra


The basic structure has three levels: Decision-making, Advisory and Operational.

  • The primary decision-making body will be the Board but the Operational Committee will also have some decision-making responsibilities (see below) in order to most effectively utilise the time and experience of Board members.
  • The Operational Committee will comprise the Leaders of the eight individual Working Groups representing the thematic areas.
  • The Secretariat and PR Unit will support the activities of the Board and Operational Committee.
  • The Mirror Group is an external Advisory Body.

Board

The mission of the Board will be to:

  • develop and oversee a long-term Vision,
  • ratify the draft and final SRA documents,
  • interact with the Mirror Group,
  • optimise interactions between all Working Groups and the Horizontal Activities Working Group, so as to optimise overall impact and value addition,
  • provide a policy interface on issues common to Working Groups,
  • be responsible for financial and accounting issues,
  • propose changes in the structure and goals of the ETP as required,
  • approve plans for using and disseminating IPR, press releases,
  • control, audit and evaluate procedures.

Operational Committee

The Operational Committee will report to the Board and be responsible for

:

  • considering individual WG-SRAs and compositing them to optimise complementarity,
  • supporting the Board and propose activities to the Board based on information from the Working Groups,
  • coordinating and managing the technical work,
  • following-up on decisions made by the Board,
  • executing the ETP programme,
  • reporting and promoting ETP activities (also to EC), and
  • ensuring horizontal activities have maximum impact.

Platform Secretariat

The Secretariat will be located within CIAA and will provide professional administrative and organisational support and will include a PR (Public Relations) activity.

Horizontal Activities

The Horizontal Activities Working Group will focus on integrating activities within the ETP, clustering and networking, and identifying and prioritising topics for scenario studies. It will also seek to establish contacts with all external bodies and organisations (including FP6 and FP7 projects and nationally-funded activities) having declared interest in the activities of the ETP. It will also organise relevant cross sector meetings, such as food/pharma, food/nanoscience.

Communication, Training and Technology Transfer

The ETP will give full attention to optimising technology transfer to both industry and SMEs. It will identify best practice and adapt this for optimal impact within the ETP. It will develop and exploit effective communication strategies for all stakeholders and actively promote technology transfer and innovation.

Working Groups
Food and Health, Food Quality and Manufacturing, Food and Consumer, Food Safety, Sustainable Food Production and Food Chain Management

Each individual Working Group (ca. 8-10 persons, selected according to their experience) will have a Chair (appointed directly by the Board), Vice-Chair and a Steering Committee. Additional specific inputs can be sought as required. The Chair of each WG will be a member of the Operational Committee. Each Working Group will:

  • develop an outline Stakeholder Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) and Implementation Plan (IP),
  • provide a policy interface of issues specific to its interests and activities,
  • initiate and manage projects,
  • seek added-value and enhanced impact through interactions with other Working Groups and the Horizontal Activities Working Group,
  • publicise and promote their activities.

Member States’ Mirror Group

The Mirror Group will consist of representatives from EU Member States, European Commission (DGs Research, Sanco, Inovation), COST, Eureka, ERA-NETs etc. and its role will be to:

  • facilitate and maximise co-ordination of ETP- and nationally-funded activities and projects, ensure an effective two-way flow of information with individual Working Groups. Its detailed operation/structure will be decided through discussion with the parties concerned and after seeking best practice from further-developed ETPs.
