Election and Presentation of the Innovation Award - Bio-based Material of the year 2010!
The 3 Finalists are:
- GreenGran B.V. | GreenGran, Natural Fibre Reinforced Granules for consumer goods and coast protection blocks
- Henkel AG | ECOmfort Correction Roller, PLA-based material for office supply
- Propper GmbH & Co. KG | Proganic, PHB-based material for household articles and gardening supplies
Participants at the Congress will vote for the "Bio-based Material of 2010"
The presentation of the award will take place on the evening of the first day of the congress. Throughout the congress the three finalists will present their products in a joint exhibition space at the HANNOVER MESSE. Detailed information can be found at www.biowerkstoff-kongress.de.

"Innovative Bio-based materials have wide industrial applications and are already being used on a large scale, especially in the automotive, packaging and building industry," says Mr. Carus CEO of the nova-Institut GmbH. "Estimates forecast a consumption of around 500,000 tonnes per year and a two-digit growth in the EU. This is despite that fact that knowledge about the technical, economic and ecological possibilities is restricted to relatively few producers and users. Most companies who are interested in "green materials" have difficulties finding suitable materials and suppliers. The 3rd Biowerkstoff-Kongress - International Congress on Bio-based Plastics and Composites will demonstrate in practical terms what can be achieved in this sector. Leading producers will show what is already possible today and in the near future and help you choose an innovative direction. This will be emphasised by representatives from politics who will present the great importance they ascribe to Bio-based materials for climate and resource protection and what future political frameworks will look like."
