The Congress will be divided into four panel sessions over two half days during which a host of high level speakers from international organisations, European institutions, representatives from the Belgian Presidency of the EU, academia, consumer groups, NGOs, members of the press and industry representatives will address issues which are ‘top of mind’ for Europe’s food and drink industry in the context of its vision for 2020.

- What does the future hold in terms of global food supply and demand?

- What sort of EU and international regulatory environment is needed to generate a more outwardreaching, competitive European food and drink industry?
- How can industry, policy-makers and other interested stakeholders address the innovation challenge? Is there a role for new and emerging technologies?

Session 2: Health and wellbeing
- How are regulators, food manufacturers and other key stakeholders working together to address diet and lifestyle challenges without reducing consumers’ freedom of choice?
- How can the industry address the many challenges that are increasingly facing Europe’s population, including obesity, food allergies and intolerances?
- How can the industry, together with other stakeholders, encourage consumers to lead less sedentary lifestyles, eat a balanced diet based on informed food choices and engage in physical activity?
- In the area of food safety and product development, how is industry responding to consumer demand and increasing consumer choice?
- What is needed to bring about the systemic change required at a grassroots level encouraging consumers to foster healthier lifestyles?

- What opportunities does ‘greening’ the food chain present for Europe’s food and drink industry?
